Volunteer Opportunities
Interns / Volunteers:
The Prostate Net, an international patient and education advocacy non-profit corporation, is seeking 2-3 individuals to work part-time in their Hackensack, NJ office in an administrative capacity assisting the President in tasks related to the overall programmatic activities of the organization.
Specific Duties: will include, but not be exclusive with:
- Maintaining print and email databases
- Coordinating activities with external medical center and agency partners
- Research on development of editorial content for newsletter and Website
- Interface with other team members on program execution
- Researching criteria for grant funding
- Assorted other office duties
Additionally, the successful candidate will be asked to attend and participate with the organization in various conventions, health fairs and organizational events as a integral member of the organization’s team.
Commitment/Compensation:
Expected time commitment will not exceed 20 hours per week that can be broken into segments of either 9:00 – 1:00 or 1:00 – 5:00, or another combination based on mutual agreement. The time can be utilized as part of required student internship or co-op programs. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible and continue in the position through the end of October with potential for extension based on organizational needs.
The Prostate Net will pay a stipend of $10 per hour worked, with no other fringe benefits; the candidate, for tax purposes, will be treated as an independent contractor.
Grant Writer:
The Prostate Net, an international patient and education advocacy non-profit corporation, is seeking an experienced non-profit program grant writer to work on a volunteer basis in their Hackensack, NJ office or remotely assisting the President in tasks related to funding acquisitions to power the overall programmatic activities of the organization.
Specific Duties: Will include, but not be exclusive with:
- Developing potential sources of programmatic funding
- Researching criteria for grant funding
- Interface with other team members and Board personnel on program requirements
- Coordinating activities with external medical center, corporate and agency partners
Commitment/Compensation:time commitment will be dependent on anticipated work flow based on mutual agreement. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible and continue in the position through the end of December with potential for part-time employment based on organizational needs.
Initial compensation will be reimbursement of personal expenses associated with the volunteer activities plus a negotiated monthly stipend based on experience.
